Eric Heumann

Eric Heumann is a composer, pianist, organist, teacher, and music director. His compositions have received notable awards, honors, and many performances across the United States. Of special note, Eric’s composition, The War in Heaven, was premiered by The Florida Orchestra, directed by Michael Francis in February 2022 after being chosen as the winning composition in TFO’s 2019 Student Composer Competition. Additionally, Eric has worked closely with prestigious ensembles and soloists such as the JACK quartet, Unheard-of//Ensemble, Apollo Chamber Players, Bold City Chamber Ensemble, Bach Festival of Winter Park, Formosa Duo, Irvine Arditti, violin, and Anne Laver, organ.

A native Floridian, Eric received his PhD in Music Composition with a cognate in Sacred Music from the University of Florida in April 2022. Before this, Eric earned a Master of Music from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Arts in music from Rollins College. Eric resides in Clermont, Florida with his wife, mezzo-soprano Emily Heumann, and their son, Lucas. He currently serves as Assistant Director of Music at Woodlands Lutheran Church in Montverde and as an Adjunct Faculty member at the College of Central Florida in Ocala.
